02022009 - Ex's Criminal Case - Violation Of PPO - Portage Swat Team at my house w/arrest warrant for ex - 64D06-0808-CM-8254/Porter County Superior Court, Portage IN

I was awaken one extremely early February morning by my frantic roomate shouting at me, "Get up! The police are here!"

My first thought was. "Oh my God, what has the ex done this time...or what the hell was he planning to do to me, that he got caught at?"

Two Portage officers greeted me in my foyer...there were officers in the front of my house....Not the way to wake up in the morning, eh.

As one of the officers was explaining to me that they were looking for my ex because he had warrant for his failure to appear in court [on the criminal charges for his threat to kill me], I felt my knees weaken. I sat down on the landing stairs and put my head in my hands and just started crying.

"I thought he was here...and that's why you were here...because he was going to do something to me, and you caught him...Oh my God, I can't take anymore of this...and I don't know where he is because he still uses this address on his driver's license....and Magistrate Johnson just keeps letting him get away with violating the PPO...and I'm so terrified he's going to do something to me....And....", I babbled to the officers.

It was terrifying that even the Portage PD couldn't locate my ex, who I was trying to stay one step ahead of. How in the hell was I supposed to protect myself from a man the police didn't know how to locate?

A few weeks after this incident, the arrest warrant against my ex myseteriously vanished...without him having been caught or going in front of Judge Thode. Obviously someone with a lot of power was pulling strings for my ex. Not once did my ex appear in court for the hearings on the criminal case. Warrants would be issued for his arrest for non-appearance....And then the warrant would disappear....Just like in the beginning of the criminal case, when Magistrate Johnson refused to uphold the arrest warrant for my ex during a September 2008 divorce hearing...He just let my ex walk out of the courtroom.
