On January 31,  while I was shopping at the Portage Town and Country grocery store [approximately 3:20pm], one of your female city employees [Parks and Recreation? City maintenance?], who was dressed in Portage City work uniform had a loud and angry 'outburst' towards me.

I do not know what set your city employee off, as I was pulled to the side of the aisle, texting back and forth on my cell phone with a crime victim, when the city employee began her outburst.

I found it troubling when I went to the parking lot and noticed that a gray Portage City pick-up truck was parked next to my Silverado – which sticks out because of its Michigan plates and the Abbi /Bailey bumper sticker in the rear window.

Needless to say, I was terrified, intimidated, and felt threatened by your city employee's actions.

Compounding this fear, is that I have had to 'deal' with the very real possibility that my ex-husband [James Thomas] and his girlfriend [Pat Borman] have my address due to a computer data entry error through the State Farm Insurance Company this past December.

I turned down my boyfriend Ken's offer to purchase me a home in Michigan so I would be safe from my ex and his girlfriend – and now apparently Portage city employees – because for the past year, we have been fighting a battle with Ken's diabetes and his failing eye-sight.

On January 31st, I was running errands in Portage while my boyfriend Ken was home recouping from eye surgery. On my mind that day while I was grocery shopping, was my concern that Ken who could barely see, would wake from his nap before I returned...

Meanwhile, a city employee of yours, while in uniform and during working hours, decided she had a grudge to settle with me – confident in the knowledge that you would do nothing about it if her actions were brought to your attention.

This is where your order to city employees to “not respond” to my concerns regarding the unlawful entry and deaths of my dogs Abbi and Bailey has gotten us.

This is me refusing to be your victim. This is me standing up for myself and my man Ken.

Please deal with your city employee, as I will be remaining at Ken's side and in Porter County for the next four years, until Ken is able to retire with his full medical and eye care benefits.
