Although this protective order remained in effect until almost a year after the illegal police entry, I lived with the knowledge that the police would never again uphold it or ever protect me from my ex.
I burned my personal protective order shortly after the illegal entry, as my acceptance that I had no protection against my abusive ex. I was on my own.
